Is this a good writing?

k the question is why was the setting in maniac magee important Maniac Magee’s setting was very important, it was placed it Two Mills. East End for blacks , West End for whites. Hector Street was in the middle. Two Mills was segregated. But Maniac would move around from East End to West End. He lived with the Mc Nabs and Grayson they were both white. He also lived with the Beals, they were black. Maniac never cared or realized the town was segregated. If Two Mills wasn’t the way it was a lot of the story wouldn’t be the same.

Firstly can I say you have too many full stops in your writing you are not wanting to end what you are saying when you say 'it was placed in two mills, East End for the blacks and West End for the whites.' would be better placed for example.  Is two mills the name of a mill or were there 2 mills? Two Mills if a name or two mills if 2 mills.

Just go back and try not to end your sentances too short.

Also Maniac never cared or realised - well if he didnt care, it doesnt matter that he did or didnt realise because he doesnt care and if he didnt realise then he may have cared but just didnt notice that there was a divide, do you understand this point, you are confussing what you are trying to say!

If you think about the situation as well ie the fact that he didnt care/realise that there was a divide, (was Maniac a person or something else as I have never heard of this before), why was the east & west side so willing to allow him in, unless he was mixed race or they were family!?!

Is there a hidden meaning to this story, maybe there wasnt a racial divide, is it something else?  You can look for meanings in the story that you may not have noticed the first time.
