  1. It sounds pretty healthy.  You didn't say what kind of dumplings (veggie or pork), but in moderation, I would not worry about them too much.  You might want to add some brown rice to help round it out.

  2. nothing it has high msgs and a olot of oil and fats

  3. The satueed green beans sounds okay, but it might have a lot of msg.  The sauce on the broccoli from the broccoli beef probably isn't that great, but it also depends on where you get it, and the steamed dumplings will have a lot of fat in it.  The shrimp sound okay.

  4. Sure, get a little bit of steamed white rice, throw a couple of broccoli spears on it, get a few steamed dumplings on the side and you should be fine. However, do keep in mind portion control. Sometimes it's not about what you eat but how much you eat and let's face it, this is something that not everyone is conscious about when dinning at a buffet.

Also, have some fresh fruit for desert instead of cake, ice cream or cookies. Have a salad before your meal, to ensure that you are getting enough veggies in and also helps you feel fuller so you eat less of the non-healthy items that most buffets have to offer.

    Hope this feedback helps!

    Good luck!

  5. If you want healthy, the chinese buffet should be avoided...just because it's mostly veggies doesn't mean anything. Its fattening!

  6. Personally, I love MSG in my food. Really.

It sounds like you did the best you could for Chinese food, but I just wanted to relay an experience I had with a nice spicy eggplant at a Chinese restaurant.

They had a counter you could sit at and see the kitchen - well, the stove area. We ordered the eggplant, having had it before and assuming it was stir fried/sauteed and then proceeded to watch them throw the eggplant into the fry basket to cook it before it went in to the stirfry with the other veggies and sauce.

It didn't look at all fried, but it was.

  7. 1. Make sure the restaurant you're going to does not put MSG in their food. If they do, head out the door.

    2. Sautéed foods are typically made w. oil. Because it's a buffet, they probably dump a puddle of oil in the pan before sautéing the food. (buffets are typically inexpensive. They'll do anything to make the food taste good)

    3. Dumplings... Depends on what is in the dumplings. If it's a vegetable dumpling, go for it. Steamed is a lot healthier than fried. But, if there is meat (especially pork), I'd advice not eating it. Pork has high fat content.

    4. Because the broccoli was cooked, it lost a lot of the nutritional value. Soaking in brown sauce doesn't help either... But it's a lot better than eating the beef.

    5. The steamed shrimp would be healthier than other foods. But be careful... If it's cheap seafood it could come from a bad source. And then the seafood could have high mercury or other toxic levels. Just be cautious.

If you're trying to eat healthy, a chinese buffet isn't the place to go. ..
