I'm starting BMX RACING, so I am buying a BMX RACE bike.

I am 5ft 11 soon going to be 6ft I reckon so of course I need a BMX with a bigger tt. (21.5tt looks like it suits me best!)

I am looking at the Group 1 Haro SR 20 XL bike

It weighs 24.75lbs

Is this light or heavy for a BMX? What is the lightest race bike u can get for example?

I want to be able to lift and chuck it around when in the air and need to get good air of jumps, so I do not want a heavy BMX! thanks

  1. The Bike sounds like a perfect size!

The bike i jest the right size for you since your 5'11.

  2. 25lb seams a tad bit heavy, since we see some CRAZY mountain bikes with the same weight.  the reason the haro is 25 is that it is beeeeeeFY!!!  You wont pop spokes forks on landings.   If you go lighter think about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and only if you are going to balls out race on the track.  Otherwise, go for it and have fun!!!

  3. 24.75lbs sounds incredibly light to me for a bmx.

in my day i had a Viceroy BMX and it was like trying to pedal a tank.

  4. For a BMX bike that's fairly light, but for a race BMX bike, it's heavy. See www.danscomp.com....
