Question:

Is this a miscarriage or, did it "heal" itself all of a sudden?

My girlfriend who has been told she was close and at risk for a miscarriage, who is 10 weeks pregnant as of now. has bad pelvic pain and cramping for 2 weeks straight, no bleeding.

One day she spots, (wiped herself and saw blood) red blood. Cramps persist.

Then she starts bleeding for the next 4 days it goes up and down in intensity. At times light and at times kind of heavy. Cramping persists.

Pregnancy symptoms start decreasing.

The 5th day she starts bleeding heavier and the cramps are much worse, she passes chunks of blood, or blood clots at different points during the day.

On the 6th day there is light bleeding with cramping as it has been. On the night of this 6th day, the bleeding stops while the cramps persist.

On the 7th day there is slight cramping and no bleeding.

On the 8th day, there is no cramping and no bleeding.

So why did she stop bleeding? does this mean the miscarriage has happened and is now completed, or rather does it mean it is not going to happen? In other words, is she somehow all of a sudden out of the clear and the miscarriage just stopped and her and the baby is ok and the pregnancy will go on or simply did the miscarriage finish and run its course? Or is there more bleeding to come? thank you and god bless

  1. I'm sorry to say but she probably did miscarry. She needs to see a doctor ASAP!! My condolences to you and her.

  2. women can cramp and bleed quite often in early pregnancy.  however, i would be very concerned w/ the clotting.  unfortunately, it sounds like she passed the baby on the day she clotted.

i hope that's not the case.  good luck to you and your gf.

  3. With the chunks of blood, and the blood clots, I would say that the miscarriage has happened.

  4. I'm sorry but with the passing of clots it sounds like she may have lost the baby.  She really needs to go to the doctor and get checked out to make sure that there is no risk of infection.

  5. She should see her doctor to make sure that the miscarriage is complete.  It probably is.  Unfortunately the chucks of blood and the clots most likely contained the baby.

  6. She needs to go to her doctor right away. the colts of blood  possible were the  unborn child. Sorry to hear.  May god be with you both.

  7. Ok, she should have at least called the doctor on the day that she saw spots of blood on the toilet paper, then she should have gone in to the doctor or the ER when she started bleeding.

A miscarriage doesn't "heal itself", even if she had a miscarriage she needs to go to the doctor to make sure that her body expelled all the tissue.

    Kids shouldn't have kids.

  8. Have you not gone for a scan to see what is going on inside the womb? I started to spot (no more than a small pin prick) at 9 1/2 weeks and my GP sent me for a scan which sadly showed the sack but no baby. I think you meed to take yourself to your local A&E. good luck and good bless. If all has sadly gone i wish you both the best as it was one of the hardest things we have ever had to go through. I am now nearly 13 weeks pregnant and i have been scanned from the time i reached 7 weeks to make sure all was well. XXXXXXXX

  9. God bless you both too. It does sound like your girlfriend miscarried, the clots sound like the lining of the womb or the embryo and the placenta.  Yes she def needs to see a medical practitioner as she may need a D&C which is, if you'll pardon the expression, a "clean up" done under anaesthetic to ensure no remaining tissue is left and infection doesn't set in.  Miscarriage is very common early on in a pregnancy tho this doesn't make it any less sad for those involved, your girlfriend may feel very emotional and will need a lot of support and she should know it was prob not as a result of anything she did "wrong".

  10. It does sound like she miscarried. I am really sorry. She should go to a dr. and make sure everything passed out ok since she was so late in the first trimester. best wishes next time..

  11. why when she first saw the blood, did she not call the dr?

it sounds like she has miscarried, but she needs to see a dr to be sure. and if she has miscarried then she needs an abdominal scan to ensure the miscarriage is complete and there is nothing left in her uterus as it can cause serious infection.

a miscarriage, when the process has started, cannot be stopped. the is no cure for it. and there is no way of predicting it.

bottom line. she NEEDS to see a dr, this is a medical necessity.
