Sails Set

Changing

Rearranging

Stowing cargo that held me afloat

Set course from the doldrums

Release the anchors

Unfurl the sails

Catch new winds

That steer me to isles of right

  1. Isles of right...with a star to guide you, you may come across Eden. It's no myth.

  2. All right Popeye, take yer spinach like a man and starting rowing the right way!

  3. It seems you are using an engine to get to Serenity. That, and the solar winds will take you there.

  4. Terrific metaphors that speak eloquently about letting go of what has kept us trapped on sandy shoals for so long, of charting a new course. Excellent poem, both nautically-themed and yet a dream for all who dropped anchor and forgot to weigh it until long after tides had turned...

  5. Sounds like both, We all need to adjust our sails to winds of change,

Those winds are a life time, set sails are an illusion.

    Neat poem, I like.

  6. 'Tis indeed a dream of an offering! (Swatting the chick.)

Thanks for reminding me of the 'doldrums'...I'd forgotten that they are somehow connected with the trade winds...and low pressure.  Funny how we capture certain words and twist them to suit our moods!

    Row on, row on.

  7. Actually, it's about time!

  8. Loved the "isles of right". That simple phrase - set the whole tone and location of the poem. I think - this may qualify - as a theme. For it can be used as a template for a whole bunch of situations. Good Job ♥

  9. A young couple were on their honeymoon. The husband was sitting in the bathroom on the edge of the bathtub saying to himself, "Now how can I tell my wife that I've got really smelly feet and that my socks absolutely stink? I've managed to keep it from her while we were dating, but she's bound to find out sooner or later that my feet stink. Now how do I tell her?"

Meanwhile, the wife was sitting in the bed saying to herself, "Now how do I tell my husband that I've got really bad breath? I've been very lucky to keep it from him while we were courting, but as soon as he's lived with me for a week, he's bound to find out. Now how do I tell him gently?"

The husband finally plucks up enough courage to tell his wife and so he walks into the bedroom. He walks over to the bed, climbs over to his wife, puts his arm around her neck, moves his face very close to hers and says, "Darling, I've a confession to make."

And she says, "So have I, love."

To which he replies, "Don't tell me, you've eaten my socks."

And the point of this little joke is....

Don't lie downwind from dirty socks...

    or...anything else that's stinky...

    Or....

    Beware of prevailing winds...

    ......Ahhhhhh the winds of time.....

  10. Mending

    Sounds to me

    It's my tune.

    No dream,no sea

    Reality, motion sickness

    Row on

    While I sew my sail.
