I've had a really bad cough over the past week. I got it when i was on holiday in Malia and all my friends got it too.

I've hardly slept the past couple of nights because i've just constantly been coughing. When i'm not coughing i'm just have a horrible tingling in my throat making me need to cough.

Its now 5.15 a.m. where i am and i've not had a minutes sleep tonight. I'm so tired but whenever i lie down my cough gets about 10 times worse and there's just no chance of me sleeping. I've hardly slept the last two nights either and don't know how i'm going to beable to cope being so shattered.

I have a doctors appointment at 9 so is this worth bringing up or should i just let the cough run it's course?

Is this normal for a cough?....i've never had such a bad cough before. I'm coughing to the point where i'm shaking, gagging, sweating and gritting my teeth (dont know why).

Could it be anything worse than just a cough and if so what?

Thanks

If you are coughing that much, I doubt you will need to "bring it up", as it shoudl be obvious what the problem is -- but yes, you should tell them. You could have gotten sick in Malia or during the journey.

Anytime there is a chronic cough with the symptoms you need to rule out the possibility of infetion, ie bacteria are present. So, you will need to get diagnosed. They just treat you empirically, or they may run the culture. You may want to get a TB test while you're at it, if you have not had one recently.
