Is this a normal thing to have happen?

I tend to get nightmares very easily. Whenever I have one (this happened about two nights ago) I am deathly afraid to move at all for the rest of the night. I can't even sit up without being extremely frightened.

Is this normal?

  1. Sounds like it could be night terrors and this usually happens when you're under stress, even just bad nightmares can take a toll on you.  You may require a sleep aide.  See your doctor to prescribe something to help you sleep, you'll notice a big difference.  If you don't want to take prescribed medication there are over the counter aides, just ask a pharmacist to assist you.  If you are experiencing stress or anxiety during your day see what you can do to alleviate it. You don't want to medicate yourself too much!

  2. don't freak out it's perfectly ok, happens to everyone.

  3. Fairly normal, happens to everyone. Depending on how often and to what extent (if any) that it hinders your everyday life, you may want to seek help. Could be night terrors or even panic attacks.

  4. No.  What kind of nightmares are you having, as in what is scaring you?  There is something in your everyday life that is stressing you out.  Find what that is and see if you can handle it.  You might have to speak with someone to help you deal with the stresses and get rid of the nightmares.
