Trapped

by Elaine P

Blinded by poetry’s radiance,

enveloped by incandescence,

I strive to enter its closed cosmos

with heartbeats of the word.

My contrary pen spews clots of ink,

spreading black upon my page,

dark matter drawing me far down

into eternal night.

The poet challenges me to soar

free, untethered beyond the edge;

but I am trapped in a black hole

of human sapience.

  1. Your cage door is not latched. You like swinging and tweeting inside the wire. Sometimes, as with this poem, you sneak outside and cavort with the magpie...

  2. It expresses writing a poem quite well. P*O*E*M*

    and below, excellent.

    Lay on, MacPoet, but ho!

don't spend a lot of time

    with more

    "poems about poems".

Get out there with the squirrels

    and grass blades.

Oh, and pome is an apple

    or  a pear.

    old bob

  5. A pome by any other name would not be a POEM,,Thanks,,, I enjoyed reading it

  6. I believe that is a poem.  heightened language, imagery, and imaginative interpretation of a subject...it has it.  It's a wonderful write and I can really appreciate the content.

  7. Loved your expression "human sapience" - what a new twist ♥

  8. I aint buying playground rules!  Peoms?  Next we will have Mopes or even God forbid, Epoms!

No, I will not mope about your offering as I would label it a right fine sapient piece of poetry.  Or as you call it: Poem!

  9. good work!

but I must say I am jealous, I had a "black hole" of mine own condemned to oblivion a while ago.  for some reason or other it was deemed inappropriate and I was not allowed to answer.  My "black hole" was a referral to  the geography of astronomy but it was still considered provocative.  let us see if this answer will get through .

  10. This is a poem on the excellent side of the spectrum.

  11. "Hi!"

It's great i have to say it's a very interesting, well thought out (P-0-E-M)

    WELL DONE! : )

  12. Definitely a poem (is definitely on the banned list?  I can't remember now)...I've had to look up 'sapience'  I thought I knew what it meant, but found out I was wrong.  I love learning new words.

I am puzzled, though, by the description of human wisdom trapping you in a black hole...I've always thought wisdom had the opposite effect.

  13. I feel a deep bond with this P-O-E-M, it expresses many of my own feelings extremely well!

  14. 1) Not a peom or a mope or even an opem

    2) Not a pome

    3) Definately a poem, and a fine one, if I am any kind of judge.  The only thing better would be two.
