There are three tall plants or weeds growing in the front yard. We live in the country, kind of in the woods. Two are about 6ft tall and a smaller one of about 3ft. It has leaves all the way up the plant and a small black colored round berry sits on each of the leaves. There is also flowers growing at the top but they haven't bloomed yet so I don't know the color. Does anyone know what this plant is?

  1. i need a picture.  it could easily be one or the other with that description

are the leaves velvety or veleury?  if so, there's a solid chance it's a weed.

  2. a plant is a weed, now if its worth keeping in your garden now thats a differnt story.

  3. Its probably just a plant. It should have a curtain smell to it if its weed.

  4. If the  "berry" is right where the leaf joins the main stem , and the buds look like the flowers will be orange in color , you have a tiger lilly plant . The flowers will be very attractive .

The "berries " are called bulblets , and can be planted to produce more plants .

  5. All weeds *are* plants. Weed is a subjective call.

In this case, the combination of not knowing where you live and not getting more information than approximate plant height and the fact that it produces berries are major impediments to a reliable identification.

  6. Got a picture?

  7. the best thing to do is get am RHS book and look it up. Royal Horticultural Society. sounds a little like a weed though have to be honest.

  8. Well, if you like it, keep it! But if you have a garden, I would be a little leary, it mike reproduce faster than rabbits. So watch closely, if that sucker is makin baby's fast, spray it away.
