Is this a possible way to make biodiesel?

if i buy a diesel truck, can i just fill the tank up 1/4 with diesel and the rest 3/4 with filtered waste oil, like from a chinese restaurant? what kind of filtering needs to be done? will this work at all? thanks

  1. you can do that but you will have some issues;

    1: vegetable oil tends to solidify at room temperature

    2: you need to seriously filter the oil to get rid of all the impurities otherwise you will have problems with clogged injectors.

    if you want to run on vegetable oil, get a complete kit and install it. remember to start the engine on diesel and shut it down on diesel otherwise the vegetable oil will congeal in the fuel lines clogging up the works.


  2. A friend of mine converted his truck to run on veggie oil.  He picks it up from restaurants (they are happy to not pay to dispose of it), filters it and puts it into his truck!  Cheap and efficient!  I think he uses less in the winter, because of the cold...  it is worth looking into!

  3. coffee filters work all you need to do is remove the deep  fried leftovers

  4. A diesel motor can burn all oils even to lube oil. The filters should be fine enough to prevent  your injectors from stopping up.
