I just got a 2001 Hyundai Elantra 5-speed manual and I can move the gear shifter through the gears without the clutch depressed is there a problem?

  1. i would think so

  2. You can do it with the engine off, BUT, you can not do it with the engine running. The reason you can do this, is that your transmission, has a synchronize slide shaft foe the shift fork to glide on in the transmission. In other words its made that way. Don't worry, you got a great car. Good luck with it !!

  3. i would be concerned about that one. go back for warranty. it sounds like a clutch that is released .
