  1. both McCain and obama vp pick were just c**k slaps in each others face obama was like hey ive got an old guy right here then McCain was like fine I gots me a woman

  2. Even if you don't agree with this move and see it as political. It really is going to shake things up.

  3. It is a proud day that a real woman...not a "woman" like that psycho ****** on a stick Hillary Clinton...has a real chance of becoming the next vice president of the United States.  I am very happy with the choice.

  4. I think it's rather sad John McCain thinks women will switch parties simply because there's v****a on the ticket.

And even more sad that a minority of women actually will.

To me, that's not something to celebrate. It's a cheap ploy and a bad decision on McCain's part.

  5. Well, I don't know how to put it without hurting your national+female pride, but as far as I remember even such a decidedly 3rd world country as Philippines had a female president Akino back in 80s. So in a way, yes, it is a big step for all american females, but I would probably not make such a huge emphasis on it, it sounds just a bit pathetic.

  6. I don't think that women involved in politics (as VP particularly) is something for myself to be "proud" of, personally. Women are highly capable of being in such positions, as are men. If anything, each should be proud of their own achievements, if earned.

I don't see this as a matter of s*x/gender, but qualifications.

The question (for me) is if she is just a pawn or if McCain truly considers her qualified for that position.

  7. McCain is trying to grab the female vote by choosing a female vice-president. That's not really a great accomplishment.

Politicians don't have values. They just do what they have to if they want to be in office. This is a clever ploy.

  8. It was a SLICK move on McCains part. Definitely slick.

The Democrats have a black man, so why not stick a woman in for the Republicans?

Will it help him win? Maybe... or it might blow up in his face. I see it as a form of manipulation. But being in politics is all about how well you can manipulate the public. The key is to avoid making that manipulation too obvious.

Sadly, this Presidential race will be less about the issues and more about Race and Gender. Whats really pathetic is the fact that anyone CARES about the race and gender of a politician in the first place.

  9. This is not the first time a woman has been nominated for vice president, so no it's not that big of a deal.  I do not see her as a viable vice president and she has a lot of baggage.  I think McCain made a mistake and will regret it.  I was not voting for him anyway.

Bottom line, McCain is USING her for one big publicity stunt.  It is working now, but will backfire.

  10. He did it to get the women's vote. Of course, there's gotta be other reasoning to it, but that's gotta play a big role in it.

  11. If a token is a sign of progression to you, then any woman who is proud of this is easily duped.

  12. I am not woman. Neither feminist. But apart from being exciting, its really a slap it seems. Like when Obama looked insurmountable, they looked for his Achilles heel. There have been many female premiers around the world, even in muslim countries like pakistan and bangladesh. Funny that palin was chosen as a step and cheap shot at presidency. I don't know her credentials and choosing her over romney and pawlantey has made her look like a strategy rather than a powerful VP.

So, far in chronology if I remember - Israel, India, Philippines, UK, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Germany - have had female premiers. Israel, India and UK's female leaders were and are not seen as female leaders but only leaders. That is the true victory for a true feminist who wants equality.

    This smells of cheap politics.

  13. No, because McCain is anti-woman on every sort of reproductive freedom.

  14. I am happy to be a woman everyday of my life and whoever is president/vice president has no bearings on how I feel about myself.  I don't need anyone man or woman to help me be hapy/proud/feel good about myself. That is an accomplishment for that woman, not all women.

  15. The h**l it is. I think he did it to sway the on the fence vote in hopes that he would be able to secure those who were in favor of Hilary. While I would LOVE to see a woman become president- i would NEVER cross party lines to vote for a woman vice president! She may be a woman- but she is still pro-life and a republican- and I would take a pro-choice male democrat over that any day!

  16. Yes this is a proud day for all republicans not just women. McCain made a very smart choice. Women and Conservatives have been served well by this choice. She is a staunch Conservative. With very little to criticize. Looks like Obama is talking change. McCain is making change. That's the key. The fact that our V.P pick is more qualified than Obama is to be President is devastating to Obama.

  17. I am not sure if it is a proud day for women because I don't know what this woman stands for. I won't vote for a woman just because she is female. She needs to be pro-woman and that includes the abortion issue.
