  1. its a statement because u r not actually asking someone what he looks like you're saying that u wonder

  2. it is a statement

a statement is a sentence that can be either true or false

It is either true or false that you wonder what he looks like...

  3. It's a statement. Saying "I wonder" is simply stating what you are doing at the time; it doesn't make it a question. Think about how you would say it. You wouldn't hit that slightly higher note on the end of the sentence, as you would with a question.

  4. Part of the disagreement between you and your friends is that this statement contains an embedded question.  The question is "What does he look like?"  But the statement takes the question and comments on it.   It's not asking for information; it's asserting a fact.  You wonder about something.  Also, notice that the word order of the embedded question often changes:

    QUESTION      STATEMENT w/EMBEDDED Q

Who are you?  I know who you are.

What did she say? I heard what she said.

How are you?  I asked how you are.

Notice that the statement is punctuated with a period, not a question mark.  It's similar to other statements with embedded questions:  I know what you did last summer.  She doesn't care what you want.  Each of these are statements about a question, but not questions themselves.

  5. Definately a statement.  You are stating a fact.
