Question:

Is this a rash or baby acne (pics)?

My little one (3 weeks) has developed bumps all over her forehead. Some look like little whiteheads and they are very red. They developed quickly and have changed a lot over 24-48 hours, making me think it is a rash rather than acne. Could it be hives or something? MIL put a small amount of J&J baby lotion on her face 5 days ago. Could that have caused it?

I know not to scrub or pick at it. I wash her face with just a wet washcloth. What do you all think?

  1. Looks like baby acne to me.  The best thing to do is just leave it be, it will clear up within a few weeks at the most.

  2. typical baby pimples, no big deal... it'll go away in a few days.. all my kids had a little bit of that...

    Patrick

  3. Looks like baby acne, but you should consult your doctor in the morning to know sure and be able to treat it if its something else.

  4. I'd say it was definitely baby acne. My daughter is almost three weeks old and has the exact same spots - identical!! I think it should go away soon - hers already looks better today than it did yeterday.

  5. It could be ezema

    Could be a rash

could be a bad allergic reaction to

  6. That is either an allergic rash or eczema. If it doesn't clear up in a few days, I would take her to the doctor and ask them what they think you should do about it.

  7. It looks looks like baby acne to me, we had the same. It should clear up by 2 months, and do not worry - it does not leave marks. If it does not clear up by about 2 months or if it is itchy - it is eczema - we have it now but it is caused by food allergies. If you are breastfeeding try to watch what you eat and talk to your doctor. Do not use any steroids - doctors are quick to prescribe them, rather see what food is causing her allergies. and that is only if this does not clear up or it is itchy. I figured my baby's was caused by me eating anything with preservatives or artificial additives, also fruit juices, fish, eggs and the list goes on. But for now- it is baby acne looking like.

  8. looks like what my little boy had at this age, just give it time, it will go away.

  9. It's deffinetly baby acne. My baby niece had that too. Don't worry. It'll go away. Don't worry about it...

  10. it's baby acne - it will come and go (hot weather makes them appear sometimes too) just do what you're doing wash with a washcloth gently. It really just bothers us more than the baby! Congratulations!

  11. IT IS TOTALLY NORMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont worry at all almost every baby gets that.. i forgot the proper name for it though. you are right do not pick at it or anything. it takes a little time to go away but just leave it alone. it is not a rash.

  12. awwe for one she is extremley cute from what i can see and got some beautiful eyes on her.

but my nephew has those two, while he has baby ance a little and eggsma. its a rash babys get and is really itchy!

if its not itchin or botherin the baby its prob just baby pimples.

if your really concerned see your babys doctor.

  13. My husband, the nurse, took one look at the picture over my shoulder and said, "That's eczema, it needs some hydrocortisone"  Hydrocortizone (1%-3%) is available over the counter and is perfectly safe for babies, just keep it out of her eyes.  Wash with a clean washcloth and then put on the hydrocortisone three times a day.  If it doesn't clear up, then call the pediatrician.

It's just a reaction to something that irritated the skin, I know it's frustrating, but you may never know what caused it.  My son outgrew it.  With my daughter, we thought it was baby acne and kept waiting for her to outgrow it, it just kept getting redder and bumpier and when we went to the pediatrician she said it was eczema on top of acne.  Two days on hydrocortisone and she was fine.  If you're not sure, try the hydrocortisone (it won't hurt) and if it clears up, you know what it was and have some on hand because it's likely to come back.

  14. baby acne for sure!!    you are doing the right thing!!  it was very hard for me not to pick at my son..lol..but they went away (although he's only had a couple spots)

  15. It could be a heat rash which look like little pimples. The marks don't look sore or infected at all so just keep up with what your doing and hopefully they'll go away soon. If it is a heat rash, you know that you prob have 1 to many layers on her.

  16. Looks like eczema to me but I'm not a doctor.  Ask your local pharmacist (one that has a kid preferably).  They'll tell you whether it's something simple or you should see a doctor.

  17. u should bring her to a doctor

  18. The lotion *might* have done it; Johnson and Johnson products really mess up my son's skin.

But that could also be baby acne; my son had that, too! =]

  19. It is Baby Acne, I used to work at a day care, you will need to get her to a pediatric dermatologist. You can actually see the white heads. I hope you are able to get that cleared it before it leaves blemishes, because that is a possibility even though she is a baby. Good Luck!

  20. acne

  21. Looks like baby pimples that will clear up in a couple of weeks. Really common and no need to treat in anyway.

  22. I would say baby acne. My baby had it- I was so upset, lol. Just double check with your nurse or doc, but if it is you just have to wait it out, don't put anything on it. Try get a bit of sunlight=) Well done she's a cutie!

  23. I agree with another poster, it's eczema. Both my kids had the same thing and it started on their face about that age. It won't last long as long as you treat it. Use hydro-cortisone ointment it works really fast, or use Eucerin. I know because like I said I have been through this twice, the Dr. will tell you the same thing. Good luck with your beautiful baby(from what I can see.)

  24. Just baby bumps they will go away soon!! Also my little one breaks out in those when she gets in the heat but they disapear as soon as we get in the cool air!!! She had those same bumps about 3 days ago and now they are gone!! Good luck!!
