Is this a rational number?please help!?

√12/√3

how can u prove that this number is a rational number? i mean 3 is irrational whilst 12 is rational. And the answer will be 2, so how do we know it's rational?

  1. yes! it is a ratinional number.  sqrt(12)/sqrt(3) = sqrt(12/3) = sqrt(4) = 2


  2. Yes, It is 2

    You can factor out Root 4 and root 3 in the numerator and cancel the root 3 top and bottom. you will then be left with root 4 which is 2

  3. As Sqrt12/sqrt3 is the same as sqrt(12/3) and 12/3 is rational and qsrt4 = 2 then sqrt12/sqrt3 is rational

  4. yes sqrt(4*3)/sqrt(3)= 2sqrt(3)/sqrt(3)=2

  5. √12/ √3 = √(12/3) = √4 = 2 or -2

  6. it's rational because their quotient is a rational number...

    its not based on wether 12 or 3 is rational or irrational...

    it's based on the problem itself...
