I found this old hat, it looks to be genuine, but i wouldn't know, i would love to know when and by whom these hats were worn etc. Also if it would be worth anything.

  1. erm, A bit on the difficult side to judge at first glance, it might look like an original, it certainly looks well roughed up a bit like it's been well aged, but looks can be deceiving, well just from a picture, So from what I can see, I'm sorry, but I don't think it real, might be, but difficult to tell, as all the pictures i got, in my magazines about the third Reich, don't seem to show any with which is blue with that button thing, most show gold tops, with button things, and any-how that button thing not central, (not 100% central),  in-line with eagle, though could be through age, maybe...

You could always find a shop or store that does all that war memorabilia stuff and ask them, if it genuine, then good on you...

  2. It looks genuine but It could also be a good imitation.

In any case, set it on fire.

  3. Looks pretty real, I guess, the colour would have faded a fair bit in 60 odd years.

Can you get it appraised by an expert, maybe compare it to other memorabillia being sold on Ebay?

  4. Why would an original German cap have a patent number on it?It does not look authentic to me.The orange dot should be a red dot.

  5. It might be but i can't say for sure. You might want to take it to a war muesum  for them to decide if its real or fake.

  6. If it's genuine would be worth money. Looks like a copy though.

  7. Hmmm I'm not sure, it looks similar in style, although I don't think it is.

Because I know that n**i hats where of a dark grey color.  Although this could be discolored from age.

Perhaps you can take it to your nearest Jewish Holocaust museum.   Who will look at it for you.   You might think it would be morbid to show someone at a Holocaust musuem but a lot of those curators will have an understanding.  They will look at it and give an assessment on what they think this hat is.
