Is this a real Thomas Jefferson quote?

  1. I don't think so.

    Both Jefferson and George Washington grew and sold smoking -marijuana (as opposed to marijuana for fiber for rope, cloth and paper).  The evidence can be seen in their agricultural diaries, where both made notations regarding weeding out the male plants and nurturing female plants, which you only do if you're growing it for smoking.

    However, I have never seen that quote anywhere else, and I think that the pro-legalization folks would have JUMPED on it, and thus I would have read it somewhere else before.

    So my guess is no, it's not real.

    However, I could be wrong.  Where did you find it?

  3. If it was in a movie, it has a better chance of being pure hollywood.  The like to take stories and make them more "interesting".
