  1. That doesn't sound right at all. If you were the one buying the beer they wouldn't need to card your friend. Really weird.

  2. Someone selling beer generally has the right to refuse to sell to anyone under 25 if they have any suspicions.

  3. I don't know the exact law, but when there is a group of people, even though only one is buying alchohol, everyone will be ID'ed if there is any doubt about age.  Anyone who can't prove legitimate age will result in refusal of sale to all within the group.  The reason why is that the state alcohol licensing board will pull the store's license if it's even suspected that the store is complicit in helping anyone of age purchase alcohol for an underaged consumer.

  4. Not a law, but company policy to avoid selling beer to someone who is likely to share it with someone who might be too young.  The clerk might believe it is a law, but even if he knows it is company policy, he can still decline to sell anything to anyone.

  5. Its probably not true but,I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and we don't have problems with beer here.

  6. .   You did not break any law.  It would depend on how close your friend was to the beer being purchased.  If he was leaning on it while you were paying, he gets his ID checked.  If he was across the room looking at candy, he doesn't get checked.  Where was he.
