Is this a right time to work in US in the IT industry?

I am from a non hardcore software background ( no coding and stuff ) and I have received my H1B approval. What i want to know is that if this is a right time to work in US in the IT industry? Are software jobs in jeopardy because of the recession and other factors like the dollar value decrease?

Pretty much anything involving computers and technology i believe is in relatively high demand. I think yahoo had an article about it on the home page a few days ago actually.
