Is this a sleeping disorder?

I was just wondering if this was some type of sleeping disorder, or just a regular thing. I usually take a long time to fall asleep at night, sometimes hours. Is this normal? Thank you.

  1. It is Insomnia - Chronic inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate length of time

Something to help would be running before you go to bed, since you use more energy and your body will be more tired so you will probably fall asleep easier.

  2. Its ok maybe you have something bothering you. Try to listen to music or tv before you go to bed. Hope you get to bed!

  3. I don't think so, watch tv while you go to sleep it helps me. Now I can't go to sleep w/o it.

  4. more than likely not a sleeping disorder, some people just take a long time to get to sleep.

  5. I don't know about a sleeping disorder, but I can try to help you fall asleep!

Personally, I either put on soothing music or the TV.  With music, I concentrate on the lyrics of the song (I ALWAYS listen to Northern Downpour by Panic At the Disco before I sleep) and that usually helps me sleep.  Similar thing with the TV.  I do watch it for a few minutes, but I end up getting sleepy and I lie down.  Then I concentrate on the dialogue.  This usually only works with me when it's an episode that I've seen before though.

Hot showers and warm milk are also usually helpful.  There are also herbal teas that claim to help you sleep, but probably any tea without caffeine will do.

And there's always counting sheep :P

    Hope this helps :)

  6. I have delayed sleep phase syndrome, but you must meet other criteria as well...

  7. It Could. You might just be having anxiety... or are you worried about something? is something always on your mind thats bugging you?  You are kinda like me.. I used to get that, turns out i was just worried about something.. The best thing to do for a full good nights rest is to take a hot bath before going to bed. Try puttin a fan on. Dont put the T.V. on cause you will try to pay attention to whats happing and you want fall asleep. The droan in your ear of the fan will make it easier to fall asleep. If its completely silent, its hard.

    Hope this helps :)

  8. Yes, it is normal. You may have trouble sleeping due to a number of reasons. First, make sure you wake up at the same time everyday. Make sure you get your daily exercise. Take a run around the block. Stress could be a factor, when you have a lot on your mind it can be hard to fall asleep. Also eat healthy and avoid caffeine before you sleep. A warm shower also helps.

  9. It's called delayed sleep onset. If it continues, it could cause chronic fatigue, be sleepy when driving, excessive day time sleepiness. You really need to mention this to your doc if it keeps up.

You need to make your room as quiet and comfortable as possible. A fan is a great idea, soothing music, sound machine, hot bath. Exercising right before bed is a bad idea. It raises your endorphins, and your body has to come down from it so you can relax. Keep a regular sleep schedule.

Read some information. It is NOT normal to have this happen everyu night.

  10. i have the same problem but idk if this is a sleeping disorder...

  11. i have the same problem too..but i have no idea either im gona start takin sleeping  pills i think

  12. If it's a problem for you you should try and do something about it. That's the main thing, not if it's a "sleeping disorder" or not.

Anything's normal re: sleep as long as you're happy and healthy.
