Is this a smart idea? Please read and help me.?

Question

I have been looking for a web designer and my budget is very tight. I have found a website that has some great looking templates. In fact, they look better than any other site I have seen.

The only thing about template is that it's being used constantly unless you buy it. So I was thinking about purchasing a template and customize it, add new colors, and my logo which was designed uniquely for me.

Those templates are WAY to much you could probably make the same thing with a free WYSIWYG editor

Good templates consist of no more than ONE page that can be customized by hand or server side scripting. Any template that has more than that is basically ripping you off, and giving you a ton of work in maintenance.

Find a page that you like, look at how it's built, and base your design on that. Do not fall for templates.

BTW, Cazpa: nothing is more annoying than a website that pulls a 1995 and resizes the entire browser window without warning. In this age of tabbed browsers, leave the main window alone - if you really want to have a mini window, open a popup - this is not a good way to advertise your site.
