to have an auction, and have someone bid. Then have your friend bid to bump up the price. If they win, you will just resell the item. Bad??

  1. Absolutely illegal, not just against ebay's policies.

Legal action could be brought against you from either ebay or the person you STOLE money from (the person who paid more than he should have.)

Ebay has some very sophisticated monitoring software that tracks IP addresses of sellers and buyers and looks for "associations" with sellers and bidders coming from the same town or geographical region.  If your friend(s) were to bid on just a few auctions you are hosting, it could easily start sending up red flags in their legal department... They know from past statistics what the chances of a person selling an item being in the same region as the bidder, especially for certain kinds of items.

  2. Uh, yes.  This is definitely against ebay rules and they can at the very least terminate your service.

  3. Yeah you can get fined, from the cops, and you get your account taken away and your friend gets theirs taken away too, Also you cant sell anything for like a month and they put up a thing on your page that tells people and you lose a lot of business. You also have to take this stupid test thing from ebay to get your account back. My boyfriend did it to me jokingly and this all happend to me, He got fined 100 dollars because he was selling a guitar and it was over 300 dollars...

and it's stupid, mean and causes people to not trust you.

  4. i always thought about that..but i highly doubt anyone would get caught

  5. Yes you are shill bidding which is banned on ebay , here is what they say about it ..

    Q. Can I get in trouble for shill bidding?

    A. Yes. This practice is not permitted according to eBay's User Agreement and in most cases it will result in a 30-day suspension on the first offence. Subsequent violations will result in an indefinite suspension. A number of sellers have already lost their selling privileges and greatly hurt their own business by engaging in shill bidding.
