I drive a 1995 Saturn SL2, I'm looking into purchasing this: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18737 to run my iPod 5th Generation though...

...Is this all I'll need? How difficult will installation be?

  1. ummm,

    you will need

    Speaker wire,

    an AMP

    a BOX

and then it will sound like pure c**p. your car will rattle more then a 84 buick, with 4 15s

  2. That covers the basics. It will sound good but don't expect too much if you are not going to add a subwoofer. One of the biggest gains in car audio comes with the addition of a subwoofer because it allows you to remove the bass from the small speaker so they can reproduce mid&high frequencies without interference from lows. It will be much easier if you buy a wiring harness adapter and a install kit. The harness adapter connects the new aftermarket stereo to your factory harness, all you do is matcch the color coded wires and plug it in to the factory harness. The install kit is a plastic peice that allows you to put the aftermarket stereo in where the factory stereo was, some cars do not need them but most do. If you go to crutchfield.com and choose the "outfit my car" option it will list the products available for your car under the "instalation" section. Metra and Scosche are two companies that sell install harnesses and kits. Their web site will also allow you to look up what you need for your specific vehicle.

If you wanted to add a subwoofer you would need a amp, sub with box and wiring kit.
