Question:

Is this amp good for my sub woofers?

I have two 4 ohm MTX sub woofers with an RMS power rating of 250 watts.

I am looking at amps and am wondering if this fits my subs. I found a Boss Audio amplifier that looks like it would work for me but i don't know if i'm calculating it correctly.

It is a 2000watt amp with an RMS Power of 4 ohm: 500W x 1.

Would the RMS power for 4 ohm: 250 x 2?

  1. You need an amp that is 500 RMS for your woofies.

So not to mention the first guy said to get a 2 channel amp and the one he showed you is a mpnoblock. If you use that you will be putting 450 watts RMS into each of your subs and they will most likely blow since they cant handle that much power over the RMS.

  2. NO no no no no! What you need is a 2 channel 900 watt amp. If you have a 2000 watt amp you will Roast your subs. Check this amp out!

  3. HAHAHA, to the guy above me, he has not a clue, 900 watt amp for 500 watts of rms from both subs, get a clue.

First off, Boss audio is garbage, they are not CEA-2006 compliant for one. You need to find an amp that is CEA-2006 compliant, and for subs, you want a mono block amp as they are made just for subs. The other thing you want to look for in an amp is 500 watts RMS, not 900 since that is way over powering your subs and will cook the voice coil.

The last thing is this, do not buy car audio equipment for Circut City or Best Buy, that is like buying a refridgerator from an audio shop. Not to mention you will pay way too much for the equipment from Circut and Best Buy.
