I have just bought a MTX 5500 Sledghammer 12" single in a ported box. Looks like the one in the link below.

I am looking at an amp that will just get the job done. I have heard some good things about Profile amps even though they are cheap. I was looking at the Profile HA1000M Baja Mono Amp. Looks like the one below.

The sub can hit 300 RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

Peak is 600 watts x 1 at 4 ohms

The amp can hit 310 RMS x 1 at 4 ohms

Peak is 650 watts x 1 at 4 ohms

I am wondering if this is a good match or if I need something else.

  1. it will be a decent match and will get the job done, but their are better amps out there. Crunch offers reasonably priced amps that will push that mtx pretty good.

  2. try a infinity 1300a d class mono block rated @300rms  only 130 shipped on ebay great amp for the money  i have 3

  3. i have a similar sub in a smaller size i have it hooked up to a kenwood amp and it does a great job

i wouldn't recommend using profile amps because i heard they're not cea 2006 compliant

  4. yeah its fine
