today played my first ever round of golf on a proper course and got 54 over par but only 3 putted twice.

What sort of scores dyou normally get(club players and fun players)and what did you get when you first played on a course.

p.s I enjoyed it even though I averaged triple bogey.

  1. It was your first round. We all started off rubbish! Also, I once heard that something like 75% of golfers have never scored under 100, so really don't worry.

The important thing is, you enjoyed it. That means you'll be keen enough to play again, go down the range, maybe even get a lesson or two - and you'll soon get better. Now you have something to beat.

  2. thats terrible actually.

i would hate playing with you.

    or even around you.

i shoot about 10 over for 18 holes.

  3. have you found out there's a "Golf" group?

    check it out here http://www.golfandothersports.blogspot.c...

  4. since u were 54 over par im guessing u shot 126 (par 72?)...... thts pretty bad..... and its not like it was ur putting (u should go get a coach and lessons)...... the 1st time i played 18 holes (it was a tournament) i shot 107.... ya i sucked tht day but the nxt day i shot 96

    now i average high-mid 80's low 90's

im a 13 yr. old tournament golfer (this is my 3rd summer in tournaments)

  5. thats not bad, im 14 and the first round i played i shot 115 and that was when i was 11 so in three years i am now shooting between 74 and 80 . dont give up and keep practicing because eveyone has to start somewhere

  6. I played today and I shot a 90.  I have only started playing golf less then one year.

  7. i guess you only played 8/9 holes then,

the first time i played i think i got around 80 on 9 holes. i never got any better so i gave up.

  8. Depends on the course, but its not a bad score for your first ever round. It can be a bit nerve-wracking the first time you go out there, and that doesnt help. A lot of players that are just starting tend to score over 100, which is already +28 at least, so +54 is not a total loss. All it takes is a few balls to go OB or into water and that score soon adds up

Dont be discouraged by some of the imbeciles answering with disparaging comments. Golf is not an easy game and it doesn't always come naturally to everyone. The main thing is you enjoyed yourself and you are willing to work at it.

One piece of advice for out on the course - because you are taking a lot of shots to go round still, if there is a group behind you that you are holding up, wave them through. It keeps them happy (which generally maintains goodwill on the course) and you won't have the pressure of so many pairs of eyes watching you.

  9. I played the other day, first time for over two years and was 30 over par.  Terrible score.

  10. That really isn't great score. By the time i was 8 i had broken 100 round the course I am at now. At 13, I have an 10 handicap and play for the county team. The main thing you have to do is to make sure you keep on practiusing hitting fairways, to set u up for the rest of the hole. Keep on practising drives and you will be fine

  11. if it is your very first time playing its not horrible, but there is definitely  room for improvement, just practice and you will see your score drop

  12. it is pretty bad. The good news is you enjoyed playing and now you have something to shoot for. You should now aspire to get double bogey and then bogey golf and some pars. The good club players shoot in the high 70's low 80's.

  13. Beginners are normally given a handicap and I know when I played the maximum was 28, this means you can be 28 over par but because of your handicap, it's equivalent to parring the course. 54 over par is not good but it is your first round, on the positive side your putting sounds good, too two put on all but two of the greens is pretty amazing for a starter.

Keep practising, it takes time to get your game together, so it could be a couple of months yet before you start to enjoy more reasonable scores. Use the 28 over par as your target, once you get there your on your way.

  14. A typical score for a beginner.  I don't remember what my first 18 hole score was on a regualtion course, but I know I broke 100 because I started playing par 3 and executive courses before I played regulation courses.  Whether I play well or not, I always enjoy playing.

  15. Its not a great score but fine for your first round on the golf course - Depends how tough the course was and if you had a couple of really bad holes.  I guess that I was probably at taht level when I started but aim to shoot mid 80's or lower now.

My advice is get back out onto the course a play for fun for a bit.  Don't think too much about your scores but just enjoy it, until you get to the point where you play a bad shot and don't worry but just hit the next one.  Then you're ready to keep score

  16. well i dont play but i know senior citizens that play that get between 32 and 42
