I have a broken tooth that is split vertically. i have had it a year or so and never sought treatment because until recently it had caused me no problems. here in the last few months, my upper jaw has swollen several times and the tooth becomes more and more painful. there has been an blister like thing above it, but it went away on it's own. now the tooth is very painful, not to mention i have two wisdom teeth that are coming in sideways. i'm swallowing well over twice the recommended dose of otc pain relievers and still in pain. Oh, and I also have congenital heart problems and congestive heart failure. I've heard that tooth problems are very dangerous, but this is my first major problem. Advice?

  1. This might not be the place to find advice for your problems. You should have a long consultation with a dentist.

  2. you should deffinately go consult a doctor... i have had the same blister type thing except it was an infection right above my tooth.. if i didn't get rid of it the infection would spread to all my other teeth an di would have to rip them all out

  3. Call your dentist and make an appointment.  Tell them what you told us, and I imagine they'll want to get you in pretty quickly.

Don't let this go on any longer.  Your teeth can definitely affect your overall health, and taking that many pain killers can cause other problems (like a stomach ulcer, for starters).  So deal with this as soon as possible.

  4. go to a doctor
