Is this an ok program?

what do u think of this? is it ok? for punching power. 4 sets of diamond pushups. first set 25 reps, second set 25 reps , third set 25 reps and the last set 35 reps. full range of motion. all the way down all the way up. 1 minute rest between sets. is it ok? u think its for beginners or experts?

  1. Yeah that is canny good for a beginner.  When it starts to get easier you could decrease the rest time or increase the reps.  Another good way to increase your power is to try hand stand press ups (like cage did in con air), if you can do 30 of the trot you are doing well.

For pushups it sounds fine, just remember that power in punching should be coming from your whole body not just your arms and shoulders, whatever style of punching you use you should be concentrating on technique for power gains.  There is nothing wrong with getting stronger but technique is your best bet.

  3. That will increase arm strength but punching is a mixture of speed and power. Supplement that with a lot of bag work and perfecting the technique. You need to work your fast twitch muscle fibers.
