I'm not sure how many gallons it in, and yes, I know to get a 55 - 75 gallon tank and I know they grow fast.

There is a UVB 5.0 light(center) then his 75W basking light off to the right. I put a lid in there and filled it with water(when he wants to bathe) then another water dish too small for him to bathe in, but enough for him to drink out of(so he doesn't p**p in it, or pee).

The food dish is near the little den I made, and... yeah. So is this okay? Oh, and his name is Buddha. :)

  1. im sure it will be okay but when he grows up i would consider changing the size if he doesnt have a lot of space. you dont want it to fit him. you want him to have a home, not just an inch.

    hope this helps! :)

  2. Yeah that looks to be okay for now :)

You obviously know your stuff so I'm not gonna lecture ya about them!

I love blue toungues, they're so intelligent, apparently as inteligent as dogs. Mines 2 years old, he's called Chris and he started out in a set-up more or less like what you've got there. ;)

    hope i helped! (:

  3. the basking rock coulddd be a little higher, but i think it's okay. perfect other than that. looks super cozy. and sheesh, yeah, they do grow fast. don't expect this to last long. :(

  4. Hello; that is a great looking tank! It looks just about perfect, though I do have one small suggestion to make. :)

I would highly recommend replacing the sticky tape kind of thermometer with either a temp-gun or at the very least one of those little round dial kinds, as the sticky tape from my experience tends to be less than reliable, particularly as it ages.  I've seen tanks that were registering at 80 degrees on the tape thermometer that were actually in the 110 range in the tank itself.

For further reading; here is a great website that is a wonderful resource on Blue Tongued Skink care, general information, and housing requirements. :)

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. :)

    Good luck with Buddha!
