I was wondering if you think that the subject of people possessing elemental powers (being able to control fire, water, earth, and air) is something that is overdone or too common in writing or in television. thanks for the input.

  1. Jonas Brothers

  2. Oh god are you effing kidding me? It's not even possible to escape those talentless hacks known as the Jonas Brothers in questions completely unrelated to them? Ugh you obsessive fans are so freaking annoying.

Anyways, no I don't really think elemental powers are an overused topic in writing or television, especially not in television. Superhero powers that are generally overused would be something like super strength, flying, invisibility, etc. But compared to the more common powers I just mentioned, I think elemental powers are rarely used. I think that's because audiences, at least nowadays, don't really want to see or read something about "guy controlling water to his command" and such, it's not really seen as exciting super powers for the simple minds nowadays (case in point, previous six answers that basically consist of "Jonas Brothers" or "what?"). I do think they're overused powers in old school cartoons and comic books though, but that's a completely different audience. Think of the popular show "Heroes," most of the characters have superpowers but almost none of them have "elemental powers," they can fly, freeze time, teleport, regenerate, control computers, see the future, etc, but I can't think of a single character on the show who can control fire, water, earth and air.
