Question:

Is this appropriate?

I recently got engaged and we need both our parents to meet. The thought of them meeting completely stresses me out. Would it be appropriate to have a cook-out with close friends, siblings AND our parents (to take the edge off them meeting)? Or is that too impersonal?

  1. It would be absolutely perfect.  Don't stress.  It will be fine.

Its a happy time for everyone.

My parents didn't meet my husband's until the day of the wedding   Talk about stress. Of course that was how it was done in the dinosaur days.

  2. I THINK YOU SHOULD JUST TAKE THEM TO DINNER SO THEY CAN MEET AND THEN THE COOK OUT COULD COME NEXT GOOD LUCK!!! =>

  3. That would be great! Very low key and comfortable.

  4. Thats a great idea.  It would probably help ease your parents too.  I am sure they are nervous too.

  5. No need to stress..It would be appropriate to have a cook out with other people. It will help make it a little easier.

  6. I think that's a great idea! Other people will be there to mingle just in case the conversation dies, don't stress out too much! I'm sure everything will go smoothly :)

  7. Although a cook out is always fun, it might take more stress off of you if you go out and eat at a restaurant instead. That way you can help the conversation along and be more involved in the meeting instead of trying to cook and play hostess.

  8. sounds like the best way that way there are more people not just you two and them, so if things get awkward they can have someone else to talk to!!

    good luck!!

  9. That is the best way to handle it.

    Congrats on your engagement!
