  1. At your age, you need at least eight hours of sleep (preferably more, but eight hours is the bare minimum you need, and that's actual sleeping, relaxing doesn't really count, sorry). I've never heard of lack of sleep affecting your brain...But I guess it might be possible...not sure.

I do know that not getting the proper hours of sleep lowers your immunity to things, because you're more tired, and your reflexes will be slow.

  2. Believe it or not, but teenagers need MORE sleep than children! The recommended minimum is 7-8 hours, but I find I need atleast 9-10 for a refreshing sleep.

not getting enough sleep can be bad for you. You will feel tired during class, less energy, less motivated, your concentration will go down, you might start getting bad grades, have less fun socializing if you're too tired...

This is from what I experience when I don't get enough sleep. You can always google teen sleeping habits and get the whole run down.

To get yourself back on a proper schedule, preferably on a weekend or on a Friday, go for a jog or a long walk a couple of hours before bed (maybe 10:30, or 11 PM.) Take a warm shower, and try this form of meditation:

Lie on your back, or in any comfortable position where you won't be moving around much if at all. Close your eyes, and regulate your breathing so it's even and not too fast. Imagine a dumpster in your mind, and toss all your thoughts and worries in there. Like, school, friends, parents, etc... and then simply delete the dumpster. Starting at your toes, start to relax. Relax your big toe, then the others, then move slowly up your foot relaxing every muscle, every bone. Do this until you're all done, and if you must, keep repeating. I usually fall asleep before I reach my knees. Focus ONLY on relaxing, but don't try to sleep. Just let it come.

Another method: listening to soft, calm music, like instrumentals or songs with soft lyrics. This is another way that helps me get to sleep. Keep trying this for a week or longer, and if you get to bed and wake up at the same time each night/day (with a big of wiggle room,) your body will start to tell you when it's bed time, and when you should wake up. Some people are so consistent, they don't even need an alarm clock! They just *know* when it's time to wake up.

  3. the average person should get 8hrs in sleep but i never get that, im usually like you at get about five, and its really not healthy but you can invest in some daily vitiams that has a,b,and c in them and you will feel alot better.
