Is this bad or what?

Question

I am 16 and i just joined the golf team this year. I shoot in the low 90's on average. We had eliminations this week and i didnt play very well. I averaged about a 95 on the week. But i still managed to get the #2 spot on the team. our #1 golfer shoots in the mid to high 80's. For Highschool golf this is a pretty bad team i would imagine. And i dont plan to compete with the #2's from other teams either. I was just wondering what would be average for a highschool golf team.

I would guess it varies all over the place.  I played high school golf at a school with about 2000 students.  Our #1 player was usually 2 or 3 over par and the rest high 70s to low 80s.  Where I play now the local high school plays their home meets, there are about 5000 kids at the school, and they shoot par to about 3 or 4 over in nine hole matches.  But if you had a smaller school with less students to choose from I would guess the scores would go up.

Well the answer to this question really depends on what region of the country you live in.  i live in the Midwest and your team would not fare very well here.  A good, 18 hole team score is typically 300-320.

where i live, we dont have a high school golf team, but if i play for my state of 3 players, our average is high 70s and low 80s.
