Is this bad.... too feminist?

Question

I get offended when people degrade a person just because she is female. well, that's a fine reason to be offended, but even though these small insults were meant to be jokes, I get upset. should I even be this disturbed by this?

I mean it's fine if guys laugh about it and let it go... but there were a couple of boys who were actually serious and gave us dirty/angry looks and they believed it

While i believe that men should not be sexist, women are more sexist than they relise. For example when i woman tells a man to be a man that would be considered sexist in my eyes.But yes sometimes ppl do go over the top with comments like those.

Keep in mind not all men are like this.

Its particularily bad in America because most women have become the victim of hollywood brain washing.

Most women who watch Hollywood films are under the influence the men portrayed in them are almost Gods.

Hence creating a enviroment in America where the men have tremendously swelled egos and impatient tempers as well.

If a "joke" degrades people - and you don't like it - you have the right to be offended. Just because other people think it's funny doesn't mean you do - and you have a right to say so. That's being assertive in my book. If the joke is about gender and offensive and you don't like it- then you may be labeled a feminist if you say something about it. That's also ok as far as I'm concerned.

Jokes are a great way to insult other people and say they didn't mean anything by it. If they didn't mean anything by it-why'd they say it? Because they can get away with it as long as we put up with it.

Celtish - how exactly does the first depict a woman who has been taught to hate and fear men? i may have missed something here, but it looks like a man punching a woman when she says she doesn't want to have s*x with him. or do you think that the ONLY reason women don't want to have s*x with men is because they hate and fear men???

If some boys are going to get angry and give you dirty looks over that then they are pretty stupid and need to grow up a bit. The people who write jokes like this just have too much time on their hands and need a life! Don't let things like that upset you. It's not worth your energy to let it get to you ;)

The first one isn't funny, but the second one is clever. It's meant in jest.

Christ, be a feminist, have your own opinion, and WANT to be equal, thats great - but don't get in a twist because of something meant in jest...

Sexist jokes are made about men everyday - but they don't have the right to get upset. I see sexist adverts with men in all the time - men have to deal with it, so why don't women have to?

I'm sorry, but something like that can never be funny. The fact that someone even tried to make it funny is sickening.
