I'm 6'3" and weigh around 70kg. I'm looking for a bike that can do a bit of everything freeride, DH, XC, commuting and I was really hoping that this would be it. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Sports/Cycling/Mountain-bikes/auction-162232961.htm I have test riden it once and it felt good but a friend I was with said my back look slightly bent while riding. The stem is a really short DH one, would switching it out for a longer stem fix this?

Cheers.

  1. Yes, that bike is too small for you. I am 5'9 and I ride a 19'' it feels so much better. My stem was short so I did need to get a new one. Your back should be straight. It feels better, and your shoulders don't get as sore. I commute to work, and ride almost daily on trails. I used to have a 17" bike, but I can tell you right now, if I still had it I would probably not ride it. I realized I was in way too much pain when I was done with my rides. It may feel right to you, but definitely get a second opinion.

  2. Most peoples backs are bent while riding.  You should look at a body position of 45 degrees when sitting on the saddle, with the saddle set at the correct height.  Make sure that the saddle can be adjusted to the height required and a longer stem will fix your body position.  I would say the the bike would be alright for you as you are very tall and not overweight.

  3. It's doesn't really matter that much, i mean im 5'8" and i ride a 14 inch DJ bike. As long as it's comfortable for you it should be fine and anyway id prefer a small bike that way id have more control over it when jumping

  4. Yes. 18" would be best for someone less than 6 feet.

It sucks to miss a good deal, but getting the right size is important.
