Hi

I'm looking to buy a bike for a long commute as well as ride in a charity 60mile bike ride.

I've been offered this bike http://www.evanscycles.com/product.jsp?style=70092&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=awin&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=awin

for £250 or £500 dollars - do you think it's worth the money and will is be suitable for the type of riding I will do?

The communte to work is 14 miles one way!

Thanks!

Bike has a few minor scratches that's why is cheaper plus it's a 2007 model...

  1. I own a 2006 Specialized Sirrus LTD and it has been very good to me.

You want to make sure you are getting a frame size that is right for you though.  If it's too big, you might have to stretch to reach the handlebars and it will cause discomfort in your arms and back.  If it's too small, it will feel like your knees are going to bump into the handlebars.

Comfort is very important because you will be riding 1 hour each way (assuming you can maintain a 14mph average speed).

If you like the more upright riding posture of a relaxed-geometry bike and rapid-fire shifters, the Sirrus is a great bike.  If it does not have bar ends, I suggest adding them-- It allows you to change hand positions to prevent hand fatigue.

    Good luck!
