Is this boy flirting with me, or just being funny?

Question

An ex-boyfriend I've known since primary school has recently started winking at me and putting his arm around me etc., during classes and break. We've been friends for a long time, but I thought it would end once I ended our relationship (he was immature and clingy, and I even gave him a chance to 'redeem' himself, if you like) but he carried on being his funny, charming self. I was the one to make the first move when we went out - is this his way of trying to ask me out or is he just being friendly.

P.S. No "he is a man, he just wants to get into your knickers" responses please. I have asked whether he is flirting or being funny, I would prefer it if those who answer stay on topic and didn't have to resort to talk about s*x to answer the question.

thats how one of my relationships were not all guys touch girls real guys that actually dont really care for s*x just sorta not touches but when he does he goes red and says sorry its the truth, your prob ugly anyways so you should move on and try for better

He could just be trying to make sure your friendship stays intact. Most of my best friends are male, and we act like this with each other in the knowledge it isn't going to go any further.

This probably isnt the answer you want to hear but as with all things, you need to ask him straight, only he knows what he's thinking.

Yeah it would seem like he might wanna ask you out, it often happens when you've got a history.

Its not a way for us to know the answer to that. You said it yourself that he is immature so maybe its just a game and hes just joking. Then again he could be serious, The only person who knows  the answer to this question is him, so why not ask him?
