I hope someone out there has an idea. I came across this website and I am amazed at the clarity and color of the image. I know the photographer shoots Nikon. But my question is, how much of this is camera and lens and how much is photoshop sweating?

  1. To answer your question, you can not tell by these images and give an exact ration of camera to photoshop.  However, with that said, ALL digital images are sharpened the have to be due to the way the sensor records the images they ALL come in slightly blurry.  And it is very routine to "bump" the sarturation on images. Now, the camera, and to a larger degree the lens makes a HUGH difference in the quality of the images you get! (Side note, if you have the choice between buying a very  expensive camera AND a cheap lens, or a cheaper camera and an expensive lens.... ALWAYS go with the better lens, it will pay off in the long run, and if you plan right you can transfer the good lens to the other newer/better bodies you will buy!

  2. Impossible to say for sure but I'd guess what you're seeing is the work of a skilled photographer largely as it comes from the camera. It looks like he has pumped up the color saturation a bit. This can be done as a camera setting, or in batch-processing RAW images. But aside from a few special shots, most wedding photographers don't have time to be tweaking everything in Photoshop. No doubt he is using professional quality bodies and lenses, but the important thing is he knows how to use them.

  3. Even a great camera in the hands of a novice will make only mediocre shots...Its really about the experience of the user.

If they are a professional they probably don't need or want to rely on photoshop much...

  4. the answer is:::::::::: its the photographer.......

yes thats right, cameras and photoshop are tools,

great images are about lighting, it takes a photographer to know that, cameras are just stupid recording devices

    a

  5. Photoshop

  6. It's a combination of the two. Though, you left out one major component in the equation = the skill of the photographer. I'm sure this fellow has top of the line gear, and the latest version of Photoshop, but it's his skill and style that really shines. So, to answer your question, your wowed at his skill and technique, not by what kind of camera he uses.
