When it says 5 speed... it manual... it would normally say Auto when they are automatic... But this one is definitely Manual.

obviously if it has a 5 speed it is a manual. automtics usually come in 4 speeds.

I'm not aware of any Chevrolet Cavalier having shift on the fly transmissions but some cars do. They have an automatic transmission that you can put in "manual mode" and shift without a clutch.

I doubt an 8 year old Cavalier would come equipped that way.

saying 5speed doesnt necisarily mean its a manual but in this case it is a manual,  2000 chevy cav's the auto transmission is a 4speed, so unless it was listed incorrectly its a stick shift.
