Is this cheap?

I am doing horseback riding lessons now, and I am considering this one place very close by that is 35 dollars for a group lesson. Is this considered good? Also, I don't have a horse so does this include them letting me use one of their horse for the lesson? Thanks!

  1. Generally speaking a place that teaches lessons will provide a lesson horse to someone that does not have their own. The only way to know for sure is to check with the place you're taking lessons.

I pay $60 an hour for a private lesson with a certified dressage instructor. Aside from being certified she has also been to the Olympics and is currently #8 in the country. THAT is cheap.

I would say $35 is a little high for a group lesson but it has also been many years since I took one. Is a group lesson three riders? Four? Five? Is the lesson an hour long, half an hour? Forty-five minutes?

There are a few variables but in the end you have to make the decision. :)

  2. It seems affordable... and i am guessing it does include a horse!

    Good luck

  3. A group lesson for $35 is OK. But what are the credentials of the person teaching?  Is this a real trainer, or someone who has ridden alot and suddenly decides to call themselves a professional?  You have to be so very careful these days. If the cost does not include use of the horse and tack, run away from this place.

  4. thats about an average price, if SHOULD include use of their horse if you dont have one of your own

  5. Hello!

$35 for a group lesson is average, a "cheap" price would be around $20.

All though our lessons are $45 for group and $65 for private for boarders and $60 for group-$75 for outside lessoners and we are booked full year round? So you are getting a good deal as long as the trainer and barn of a good reputation.

And yes unless it says "Boarders Price for lesson" they will supply you with a lesson mount to handle your capabilities. Have fun!! :)

  6. It is not that bad of a price. I take lessons and it is me and one other person that she is giving a lesson to and it is 30 dollars. I also use her horse because I don't have one of my own yet.

  7. Depends on the area, the instructor, is this an hour or half-hour lesson?  In my area $35 is about average for an hour lesson, but the horse is not provided at that price.

  8. http://www.citidexli.com/466.htm#C467

Listings for lessons and horseback riding on Long Island.

Make a few telephone calls and see what they are charging.

  9. I Would Think So.

  10. I'm in NJ. That is  pretty much average for a lesson on a lesson horse.

    What state are you in?
