My sister is 28 now but she had her 8 year old when she was 20 and her 5 year old when she was 23. She has been a VERY irresponsible mom. She doesnt take her kids to the doctor, they both have NEVER seen a dentist, and the 8 year old is going to need them. The 8 year old never got shots until RIGHT before school so at 5 years old she got years worht of shots in one day! Also the 8 year old had a HORRIBLE yeast infection when she was a baby but my sister wouldnt take her to the doctor and my parents threatened to take her kid away.

She doesnt have health insurance for them, but she has enough money to buy them toys and clothes, so they arent lacking in that department. The 8 year old will probably have to repeat 2nd grade because she needs help with her homework but her mom wont help her.

My sister is more concerned with going out and drinking and having s*x with guys. She doesnt think of her kids at all. Is this child neglect?

  1. Not taking them to the doc is neglect. And that is really bad that she didnt take that baby to the doc when It had a yeast infestion. I just dont see why people act like that sometimes.

  2. Yes this is definately neglect but maybe instead of stripping her children away from her and from the only home they have ever known why dont you and your family help her by taking up some of the slack. Sometimes it is the way you talk to a  person that makes all the difference in the world. She does sound a little lazy so she may need a big push but I think taking them away is a bit drasitic. Help her get insurance. Instead of them going to daycare have them stay with you or grandma and grandpa. I dont understand why they are in day care so much when they have family. God bless you all and good luck.

  3. Sounds like it's time for an intervention. The children are what's at stake. Don't allow her to treat them that way. They deserve better.

  4. It doesn't sound like a good environment for children and something does need to be done.  Have you talked to her about how she is with her children?

All children need a loving and giving environment. This doesn't sound like one.

  5. NEGLECT!
