and then would i just go onto the next sentence or do i add a period?

  1. If your supposed to be following MLA format, get rid of the comma between "Burgess" and "1". Then add a period/question mark/exclamation point after the last parenthesis.

  4. If the quote is not the complete sentence you leave the comma and the quotation marks. If this is the complete sentence use a period and the quotation marks. Then go on to the next sentence. No period after the parentheses.

  5. It should just be (Burgess 1) and then follow it with a period.
