I'm trying to be a bio major (medical) and music minor.

I need 124 units to graduate and during my second year I'll be registered as a senior with 90 units

I just figured out that with my major and minor and GE classes, by the time I graduate, I'll have 180 credits.

is this normal, or does this really stink?

  1. That is the normal.

Bachelor's degree are on average 120 credits.

Minors do vary greatly and range from just 12 credits to 30 credits.

  2. That is normal.  When I start my double, i will need at least 150 credits, maybe even more. So yeah, this is normal.

Colleges do this for two reasons: 1) so that you're more well rounded and likely to succeed, which helps them boost alumni donations, grants, and stuff; and 2) so that they can charge kids for more credits than they really need and make a killing off of the book sales.

Don't worry, they get everyone this way...or somehow.
