I just bought some Riedell blue ribben figure skates and it only hurts on my left foot. The first time i went, i got a blister on the right side of my left ankle and the second time i went skating (which was five days later), on the right side of my left foot, there was a part of my skin about half an inch long where the skin was like loosely moving around (it's like my skin was wrinkled). Anyway, is this normal for breaking into figure skates? and if so, how long does it take until the skates are broken into?

  2. Yeah its normal, breaking in skates are not fun. Riedell skates are nothing compared to other ones. personally for me, I don't like them. It takes time to break them in compleatly.

  3. It's VERY normal to get blisters when breaking in new skates!  :)  Don't worry!  If you're having problems with the ankles, you can take them to a skate shop and ask them if they could "punch out" the ankles for you.  They have a metal tool that they can use to squeeze and stretch the leather, making more room for your ankles.  Also invest in some round makeup sponges.   You can get whole bags of them at Target or Walgreen's probably for $1.99.  Put them over the spots you're having trouble with.  If you want to invest the money, you can also get Bunga pads or Slippos to help with this.  It'll take a little while before your skates feel comfortable.  When you're starting out with them, try not lacing them all the way up.  If you're having problems with your ankle, leave the top hole unlaced until you feel more comfortable.  Also try leaving the top hook undone until you feel more flexibility.  Put on your plastic guards and wear your skates around the house a little to help with the break in process.

    Good luck!

  4. sadly it is normal and it normally takes 1 to 2 weeks to break in new skates

  5. Blisters are very common when breaking in new skates. Some good ways to help prevent discomfort while breaking in your skates. Don't skate for long periods of time, make sure to relace your skates often while skating, and make sure to have good socks on (thin, nylon or polyester socks). Depending on how often you skate, and how long you usually skate will depend on how long you skate. Usually it takes around a month of regular skating to break in new skates. Good luck!

  6. Dont worry! It is completely normal for you to be getting blisters on your feet. The most important thing is t take care of them. Put some ointment on your blister and wear flip flops as much as you can so that the blisters do not get additionally irritated. Usually it will take about two weeks for your skates to break. However, if you do not take care of your blisters, your feet will hurt additionally when you put your boots on and it might hinder you skating as you might have to take some time off so the blisters can heal.
