  1. You shouldn't need extra fans to cool it, and the more you get the louder your case will be.

The system seems fine for gaming, but not great. If you get the HD 4870 it will be pretty good.

Why don't you just build your own PC with the same specs or have someone else do it for you? It would be cheaper and have a little more quality. The computer isn't designed to have an ATI Radeon HD 4870, and you will have to spend an extra $100 to get a new Power Supply to power it.

If you do decide to build a new PC, I recommend NewEgg.com

  2. 7thousand fans :)

  3. To the first question: is this a good rig for gaming, this simple answer is yes.  You seems to have a good amount of storage, RAM, drives, and certainly processor. (you can overclock the Q6600 to up to and exceeding 3.2GHz stable with air cooling)

To answer your second question you need to examine the video card to begin with.  The HD 4870, which i nearly bought peronally, is a great choice. However, the cooling abilities of your computer can be degraded by the fact that this ATI card has been recorded to run at 110C (not kidding) This alone could theoretically raise your system temp by 10-15C alone.  To compensate for this huge heat source, i would recommend at minimum, two 120mm intake fans, and at least 2 120mm exhaust fans.

If your case does not support this, Newegg has a very good search function that can find you the perfect case.
