Is this considered a threat?

My dad said this too me... "If I don't hear from you by 12.00 I will be going to the lawyers" And now our situation is very serious... and too long to explain... please just tell me if it is a threat or not...

Yes it is a threat.  A quite lawful threat.

I need more information.  I remember telling the boys if you don't quit wrestling I will take you to the wood shed.  We don't have one and I have never hit one of my children.  It was one of those statements that means I am at my wits end.

This is not new, in reading the bible this israelite warrior, judge I think told God the first one out to see him would be a burnt sacrifice.

Which turned out to be his daughter.  It turned out she was not to get married and remain single.  Hardly a burnt sacrifice.

Going to the lawyers? yeah - that would have me shaking in my boots alright...

It's a threat if the consequence would result in harm. I don't think this is a threat. It's a warning of consequences.

Yes, that is a threat. BUT, just because it is a threat does not mean there's anything wrong with it. Some context would help here.

That is not a threat that you can take legal action on sorry. A threat like that would be something along the lines of, "If I don't hear from you by 12:00 I will hunt you down and beat your ****"
