I am a shift manager at a popular fast-food restaraunt.

Recently, one of my co-workers pointed out that a customer had been in the store for 12+ hours the day before, and had been there for at least 9 today. I've seen him nearly every day I work.

One day, when I got off an hour early and he said, "Oh. you got off early." This creeps me out because I have no idea how he knows when I normally get off because it I usually get off early.

  1. yes it is.

  2. omg. that is creepy.

    u should tell someone...

    and be "cautious"

  3. Maybe hes a ghost. try talking to him.

  4. Well if you and other members of management allow it to go on then the guy thinks he is ok. Call the cops and have them find out what his intentions are and the manager should get a court order to keep him away. It is people like this that end up doing something terrible. Don't wait for something bad to happen and then say 'we should have called the cops on the guy long ago'. Do you think any other business place would allow this behavior, such as a bank or a convenience store, c'mon wake uo before it's too late! He is just waiting for the right time. He has given you every warning and you have told him by your actions (or non actions) that he is ok with what he is doing. He may just be homeless or out of work with no place to go and he may actually be harmless but do you want to bet your life on it??? I think it would be great if your manager was targeted by this creep. Maybe then the manager would be a little more willing to change his/her mind about kicking people out.  I can see not kicking people out just for minor things but hanging out for hours day after day. There's a point where any activity becomes excessive. That's why business places have the 'NO LOITERING' rule.

  5. lol that is creepy..it seems like he's watching you or something. Someone should tell him to leave once he's done eating.

  6. 12 hours?

wat the heck has he been doing?

    That is creepy!!

  7. You should definitely have someone in security check this out, this kind of creepy behaviour happens right before a huge news coverage and someone is found under a bridge or somehting.

I am completely serious. Talk to your superviser and the security where you work.

    be safe.

    not sorry.

  8. I would have a store manager speak with the guy or even call the police to come chat with him. He may be harmless, but then again you never know.

  9. Does sound creepy.  Have you considered this person might be homeless?

  10. He's can't be planning a robbery, since he's just hanging out and everyone has noticed him.  If he's not really tracking one person all over everywhere and communicating with them a lot, he's probably not a stalker.  He may just be homeless, or out of a job and have nowhere else to go.  After being somewhere that long, of course he's going to know what time everyone gets off and comes in.  Be careful, though.  Don't talk to the guy.  Just call the police, and tell them the situation.

  11. That is WEIRD!!! You should report this guy to the police because I think he is a stalker. You NEED to report him to the police and maybe tell one to come to your restaurant incognito as a regular guy. That should help. And if that doesn't work, ask one really intimidating friends you have to go into your restaurant and creep this creep out. That would be funny. Good Luck ;D

  12. Ya, that's pretty dang creepy.  I would make sure somebody does something soon.  Hopefully he's not a staulker...

  13. i would be very concerned. a fast food restaurant is normally a place where you catch a quick meal. any guest staying for over an hour should be watched for behavior which may be dangerous to himself or to other patrons. if you get off at five, it should be no big surprise that he'll notice when you get off early, because the typical american work day is from 9-5. in either case, you should report this behavior to a law enforcement agency, but ask them to keep the bit about getting off early confidential, or omit it entirely in your report.

ensure that your vehicle is locked at all times when you are in the vicinity of your workplace (so he cannot enter your vehicle) and keep your personal information (e.g. your place of residence) to yourself while at work. this means keeping your wallet, credit cards, phone book, phone, pda, and mail out of public view at all times.

  14. It is creepy but he could just be a homeless guy. Maybe he knows he can hang out all day and get out of the heat. I work in a sandwich place and we have 2 different homeless dudes who hang out at least a couple hours a day.

  15. Yeah, that's really creepy. You might want to suggest a "no loitering" rule to your supervisor, so then you have a reason to make him leave if he stays for a long time again.

  16. Yeah. Thats creepy if he has remembered your schedule. Is he homeless? If he is, it would just be a place to hang around during the day. If not, well thats just plain weird. He is obviosly paying attention to what is going on. Wow. Thats creepy. Talk to the other people you work with, see what they think/think you should do.

  17. Well, either he's got a lot of free time or he's stalking someone, if I were you I'd stay on the safe side and find a safe, polite way to get rid of him, or at least gather as much info about him as I can and keep them in a safe place, you never know when you'll need that info.

  18. Then, why isn't the shift manager taking responsibility on getting this guy out of the restaurant?

  19. I used to be a manager at Mcdonalds. It happens all the time. Our regulars love to hang out. If they are creeping you or your coworkers out you have the right to kick them out, if they don't comply you can call the police if you really care that much.

  20. Yeah, that is really creepy.  Your restaurant probably has a no loitering rule (hanging around) and you can easily tell him to leave and if he doesn't then you can call the cops.  There is no reason that he should be there that long.

  21. I agree that that is very scary and creepy. The person might not have a home or a family to be with and he knows he can hang around there. Try talking to him and ask him if you can help him... but dont get too close to him and dont trust him completely. Another option is to contact the police and let them know about this man and they can talk to him.

  22. but it may not be all that serious too. i mean, if i were there everyday, then i would eventually get a sense of when people are there and  when they leave. not like im stalking you, its just something that you will start to notice eventually.he may not have a life or he may be homeless. dont always assume that someone is stalking you. for all you know, this may be his escape from his reality of life. or.... maybe hes a derranged stalker....who knows? you may want to ask how he is doing one day and wait for a response. derranged maniacs usually answer like derranged maniacs.

  23. You need to do something about him.  If he is not eating, he is stalking the place.  You should let someone know about him and keep notes about him in your office so that others are aware of his strange behavior.  If it were me I would let him know that if he is not buying something that he needs to leave.

  24. That's creepy. That customer needs to get a life- make sure he's not stalking you and don't give out any personal info that he could find you at. He could just be homeless or maybe it's a bet.

  25. Unless he is re-filling his coffee cup once an hour or tip money crossing the table occasionally, he is a vagrant. A periodic trip to his table with the following question; "Everything alright here, may I get you something else?" may annoy him enough to either "buy or beat it".
