Question:

Is this deliberate behaviour?

Every time we sit down to tea, it seems my dad talks about "yucky" or "horrible" things. For instance, as soon as we sat down to a nice meal, he started talking about "abortion babies". Does this happen in every household, and why doesn't he have any normal discretion about what to say, at certain times, etc?

  1. Just one day after he says something like that say "I lost my appetite", then leave the table and put your food in the fridge. Maybe he will think about why you left and try not to talk about that stuff at the dinner table.

  2. It seems to be a form of passive aggressive behavior, the way to change it is to chalenge it.

  3. Who knows.. maybe it just comes into his head at that moment and he sees nothing wrong with it?

Next time he says things like that just say "Um, dad, can't you talk about this later, after we finish eating? It's really gross.."
