MY little Nellie is 12 weeks old. A second ago she started whining and had a very soft stool. She pooped a little bit and then a little bit more and then pooed a little tiny amount. The very tiny amounts where blobs of poo in weird areas. He stool is normally pretty darn solid and today its more soft but not lliquidity I feel like a horrible owner because this morning she ran into our neighbors yard and got what looked like a bloods piece of paper but we got it out of her mmouth Mah question:Diarrhea or not? Could the bloody paper caused it? Is a vet appointment need to be made. She's not sluggish or has any other signs of parvovirus.

  1. If you have ANY reason to believe it's Parvo, see the vet immediately.  The test only costs about $30 in most areas and, really, it's better safe than sorry.

  2. puppys have loose stools. feed her a bland diet for a day or so and if it isnt cleared up call the vet.

  3. Parvo kills a dog pretty quickly, so if you want to make sure, I would get her to the vet as soon as possible.

  4. just wait and see what happens she could be fine when u take her for her shots tell the vet but puppy's get diarrhea all the time if the eat something there stomachs cant handle her first sets of shots r the parvo shots i think so it should be ok

p.s also get her vaccinated for kennel cough

  5. If she's had her vaccinations, parvo is rather unlikely - although still possible.  The 'bloody paper' might have been something with meat on it, in which case she might have picked up a bacterial infection like Salmonella or E coli.  As long as she's eating normally and seems alert, she should be OK.  A vet visit is always a good idea if you're in doubt.

  6. parvo is a highly infectious virus that attacks the gastrointestinal tract and cardiovascular systems of dogs. The main source of the virus is the faeces of infected dogs. The faeces of an infected dog can have a high concentration of viral particles.

the virus is carried to the intestine where it invades the intestinal wall and causes inflammation.

Dogs that become infected with the virus and show clinical signs will usually become ill within 7-10 days of the initial infection.

The signs of parvovirus can be sudden onset of bloody diarrhoea, lethargy, unwillingness to eat and repeated episodes of vomiting but it is important to note that many dogs may not show every clinical sign. Parvovirus may affect dogs of all ages, but is most common in dogs less than one year of age. Young puppies less than five months of age are often the most severely affected and the most difficult to treat.

you may want to have a quick vet visit
