State Representative (Democrat), James Fagan said the following about child victims of sexual predators on the floor of the Mass. State House of Representatives in debate about a bill to protect children from child rapists with mandatory sentencing.

"I'm gonna rip them apart," Fagan said of young victims during his testimony on the bill. "I'm going to make sure that the rest of their life is ruined, that when they’re 8 years old, they throw up; when they’re 12 years old, they won’t sleep; when they’re 19 years old, they’ll have nightmares and they’ll never have a relationship with anybody.”

I heard his speech on the radio yesterday more than once. Fagan came on the radio program to defend what he said. He didn't apologize for the tone or his language. I hate to say this but I'm going to. He's from Taunton. I'm not surprised at all that he doesn't get it. He is not a sensitive and thinking human being. He doesn't understand why people are outraged. This doesn't seem likely to happen. It has not happened as far as anyone knows. The court goes to great lengths to protect children. But with the deteoriating going on in society, it does make you wonder. However, we can't plan for everything. It's ridiculous.

Fagan is an idiot. He actually has someone running against him because of this whole fiasco. He's up for reelection in November. :-)

This guy is a defense attorney. Taunton is a poor community with lots of problems. It's not a good area by any means.

edit: Some responders have it wrong. He is saying that he was acting like a defense attorney trying to defend a child rapist. This is a what if scenario essentially but the fact that he used first person instead of third person speaks greatly. He's an ego maniac. A rational person would apologize. I'm a democrat and I'm upset. I would vote against him in the election but he's not in my area.

edit: I'm dismayed that people seem a bit off here. He is not taking the position of child rapists.  He is taking the point of view of defense attorneys that are supposed to provide a rigorous defense which means going after the alleged victim.

He is not saying this about child rapists. Not at all.

Being a MA resident, I was appalled when I heard this. I am at times embarrassed to admit this is my state but these people need to be held accountable, he should be tarred and feathered on the Boston Common for all to see. He's a filthy b*****d.

Yes, it's disturbing.  As a former resident of Massachussetts, I'm darn  glad I moved when I did.  The lawmakers up there keep getting further and further into left field.
